Obituary for Sarah Elizabeth Russell

Sarah Elizabeth Russell
BANGOR- Sarah Elizabeth Russell, 34, passed away after a brief illness October 18th at her home in Bangor. She was born on March 7th, 1982 in Bangor, the daughter of James J. and Catherine (Cote) Russell of Brewer. Sarah grew up in Brewer on “the lane” and graduated Brewer High School in 2000 and the University of Maine in 2004. Sarah had a passion for animals, and she loved her job at the Bangor Humane Society.

Sarah was predeceased by her father on March 30, 2014. She will be deeply missed by her mother Catherine of Brewer, her sister Alexandra of Portland, her beloved furbabies Sprocket, Rifkin, and Pepper Pots; her Nana and Papa, John and Pauline Lodge of Bangor; her aunts and uncles Rod and Sandra Liles of Oklahoma; Charlie and Lauren Russell of Kentucky; Carolyn and Randy Percival of Eddington; Bobby "Uncle Bobdog" and Rosie Russell of Clifton; Rita and Tom Havener of Florida; Steve and Cathy of Eddington; godparents Bill Eastman of Brewer and Judy Cote Hodgdon of Naples; along with many cousins and her close friends Jozlyn Fitzwater of Utah and Bethany Parks of North Carolina. Sarah was well-loved by so many dear friends--too many to list--her Bangor Humane Society family, and furry friends.

A true Brewer witch, Sarah adored Halloween and considered October “the most wonderful time of the year.” She also loved reading, her family, music (especially going to Dave Matthews Band concerts with AlHerPal), her animals, field hockey and dance parties in the kitchen. Everyone who knew Sarah will remember and dearly miss her wit, her sarcastic sense of humor, her laugh and her beautiful smile.

Sarah’s family requests that you remember her life privately. Hug your loved ones and your pets extra close in Sarah’s honor. Those who wish to remember her in a special way may make a donation in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor.

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine…” XO, Nana
