Obituary for Roger Linwood Williams

Roger Linwood  Williams
GLENBURN- Roger L. Williams Sr., 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 13, 2016, at his home in Glenburn. He was born June 17, 1923, in Gouldsboro the son of the late Chester and Minnie (Sargent) Williams.
Roger grew up in Gouldsboro working on the family dairy farm where he developed his hard work ethic. He attended school in nearby Winter Harbor. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Army where he proudly served his country in WWII.
Following military service, he became self-employed as a master plumber and was well known in the Bangor area as Williams Plumbing & Heating for 50 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the family camp on East Grand Lake in Northern Maine in all seasons. Roger enjoyed spending time in the outdoors fishing, snowmobiling, and hunting. He was also fond of listening and dancing to country music. He also enjoyed following NASCAR and local races.
Roger is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gloria (Chaloux) Williams, his daughter Valerie and her husband Max of Clinton, a son Roger and his wife Rhonda of Hudson, a stepson Kevin and his wife Teresa from Gorham. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Reilly of Gouldsboro and his grandchildren, Caitlyn Cote, Danielle Williams, Hillary Williams, and Andrew Perrigo. He was pre- deceased by a grandson Cameron Cote.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Bangor Area Visiting Nurses and Melissa and Adam Mailman whose compassion and support is appreciated beyond measure.
Friends may call from 5-7 P.M., Sun, Oct. 16, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Mon, Oct. 17, 2016, with Rev. David Bean officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the service.
