Obituary for Donald Russell Mingo

Donald R. Mingo, 75, passed away September 22, 2016 at his home. Donny was born March 1, 1941, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Moores) Mingo.

There once was a man from Stillwater,
Who had a beautiful wife and 5 daughters,
Family camping was fun,
Catching fish in the sun,
Hampden was his alma mater.
Horse pulls at the fair he did love,
His grandkids he was real proud of,
Julie’s cooking was great,
His Jeeps were top rate,
And Budweiser he never ran out of.
At Sargent’s he dispatched the big trucks,
His Farmall tractor he considered deluxe,
Remote control in hand,
Was a BIG Giants fan,
Saving a life on his sled was pure luck.
Call him Don, Daddy Don or Donny,
His sense of humor most friends found quite funny,
Loved his family and friends
Until the very end,
It was great to be a part of his journey.

Donny is survived by Julie, his loving wife of 54 years, and five daughters; Lori Fickett and her husband David and their children, Lindsey and Riley; Lynn Redman and her husband, David and their children Isaac and Shelby; Darlene Freeman and her husband, Larry and their children Adam, Katie, Amy and Jacob and Deaven Smith; Candace King and her husband, Jeff and their children Caitlyn and Olivia; and Cathryn Leland and her husband, Matt and their children Mikala, Cooper and Tucker; and his sister Donna Bedard and her family who all meant a lot to him. Donny was predeceased by his parents.

In keeping with Donny’s wishes, there will be private services for family at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the Stillwater Federated Church, P.O. Box 386, Stillwater, ME 04489.Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
