Laurie Theresa (Paul) Cammack, 76, passed away peacefully June 19, 2016, at EMMC, surrounded by her loving family. Laurie was born October 18, 1939 in Old Town, daughter of Frederick and Corinne (Lebel) Paul.

Laurie grew up on Academy Hill in Old Town and attended Old Town Catholic Schools. In 1955, she met the love of her life, Ralph “Sonny” Cammack at a roller skating rink. They were avid roller skaters and were admired by everyone for the way they graced the floor. They married on October 6, 1956 and moved to Bangor and raised four children on 8 Frazier Street. They later moved to Leighton Street, where she enjoyed decorating for Christmas Eve, the festivities , music, food and the good company of family and friends. When they both retired they moved to the Bangor gardens on Brewster Street, where they met many new friends. She also enjoyed the many family camping trips, the family outings at Chemo Pond and special memories at Graham Lake where she enjoyed entertaining family and friends.

Laurie retired in 1992 after 31 years of service to Bangor Mental Health, (now Dorothea Dix), where she was the team leader. She took pride in all areas of her work and was supportive in the recovery of her patients. Laurie had many talents, crocheting, painting and redecorating homes. She had a flair for making the homes so beautiful with her impeccable decorating. Laurie will be remembered as good humored, supportive, a devoted and fiercely loyal mother, a devoted grandmother and loving great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Ralph “Sonny” Cammack in 2007. Also predeceased by brothers Robert Paul, Eugene Paul, Joseph Paul, sisters Dorothy Morgan, Phyllis Nason and Patricia Ference, sister-in-law, Martha Paul and brother-in-law, Galen Morgan, three loyal companions, Jo-Jo, Amber and Cody.

She leaves behind four loving children, Jeffrey Cammack, Joseph Cammack, Julie Dexter and Ralph Cammack; two daughters-in-law, Vivian Cammack and Carmen Cammack. She adored and was adored by her eight beautiful grandchildren, Jessica and her husband, Matthew DeGrasse, Annie Cammack, April Cammack, Joseph Cammack, Jr., Ashley Dexter, Richard Dexter,Jr., Ralph Cammack, Jr. and his wife, Alyssa and Chenoa Cammack; four loving great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jack DeGrasse, Mya Knowlton and Parker Tracy; many nieces and nephews ; sisters-in-law, Mary Paul and Kay Paul and brother-in-law, Charlie Nason; special friends, Rick Dexter, Joan Montgomery –Dunn, and Dorothy Young.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at EMMC for helping make Laurie “mom” as comfortable as possible during her brief stay. Also EMMC’s Emergency Department, Cath Lab Team, 4 CCU Cardiac and Husson Internal Medicine for the exceptional care she received.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 11 am to 12:30 pm. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 1 pm. Friday July 1, 2016 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. The Rite of Committal will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor following.
