PRESQUE ISLE and BANGOR – Lulu E. McBride, 92, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 24, 2015. She was born, June 28, 1923, in Mt Pleasant, N.B. Canada; she was the daughter of the late Harry M. Foster and Ella May (Wasson) Foster. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 70 years, Ray N. McBride, her daughter, Marilyn McBride Lyon and her sisters, Edna Patterson, Kaye McCain, Avis McIntyre, Reta Babkirk and Barbara Hughes.

Lu married Ray in 1941 and they lived on the family farm in Belleville with their daughter, Marilyn for 9 years before moving to Houlton and then to Presque Isle. Lu worked at the A&P Store in Houlton & Presque Isle and then she completed the Real Estate Course at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and worked with her daughter, Marilyn at Lyons Real Estate for 5 years. After retirement they spent the winters in Florida and the summers in Maine. In 2006 they relocated to the Bangor area to be close to their granddaughter & her family. They were active members of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Presque Isle for many years and most recently members of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Brewer. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends at Boyd Place & Phillip Strickland House in Bangor. Lu greatly enjoyed her visits and shopping excursions with her nieces Kaye Coye, Jean Ketch & Joan Parson.

Lu is survived by her son in law, Claude Lyon, grandson, Douglas Lyon, granddaughter, Deborah Roope and her husband, William H. Roope Jr., her 4 great-grandchildren, Matthew Roope, Ashley Roope Cooper, Joseph Lyon and Lindsey Lyon. She was also blessed with a great-great granddaughter, Alexis Cooper. Lu is also survived by many nieces & nephews too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave, Hampden with the Rev. Myrick Cross, officiating. The Family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in Family Reception Rooms immediately following the service. Contributions in Lu’s memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church 21 Holyoke Street, Brewer Maine 04412 or to a charity of one’s choice.
