Obituary for Robert Matthew Nangle

ORONO-Robert M. Nangle, 88, died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family September 22, 2015. He was born December 31, 1926 in New York, NY, the son of Peter and Marjorie Nangle.
Robert graduated from Westhampton Beach High School, Class of 1944. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. He earned a B.S. from Ithaca College and an M.B.A. from Rutgers University. After a long career in the financial sector, he retired as a Vice President at Chase Manhattan Bank on Wall Street in 1988.
Predeceased by the love of his life and wife of many years, Eleanor, and by his daughter, Laraine Bickford, Robert is survived by daughters, Barbara Greco (Michael) and Arlene Krauss (Fred,) and sons, Richard Squires (Patti), Thomas Squires (Barbara), Steven Nangle (Peggy), and Douglas Nangle (April), sister, Dorothy Owen, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert loved the outdoors. A gunnery instructor in the Navy, he was a skilled skeet shooter. He loved boating, fishing, time on the beach, and long, brisk walks in Vermont and Maine. Near his retirement, he took up the art of decoy carving, producing many beautiful working pieces.
