Obituary for Thomas Leo Bowen

Thomas Leo  Bowen
Mattawamkeag – Thomas Leo Bowen, 74, died after a brief illness August 9, 2015, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 11, 1940, in Medford, MA, the son of John L. and Mary V. (Gordon) Bowen.

Tom grew up in Wilmington, MA graduating from high school in 1958. He promptly joined the Navy and served his country proudly. Tom went to work at the phone company after being discharged from the Navy – a career he stayed with until retirement. He loved to go hunting and fishing, and spending time at his camp. After he retired, Tom spent time traveling, especially to Las Vegas, a place he loved to visit.

He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Dobbins; children Judy Taylor, Jean Gilman, Janis Marchese, Michael Bowen, Jimmy Bowen, and Sally Weston; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother Jack Bowen and wife Dottie; a sister Terri Miner and husband Jim; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 12-2PM Friday, August 14, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 2PM. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service.
