Obituary for Ruth Drew Cluff

Ruth E. (Drew) Cluff, 93, died June 28, 2015, peacefully in her sleep and has now been reunited with her beloved husband Mike, daughter Jeanne, and dog Elmo. Ruth was born April 28, 1922, in Bangor, the daughter of Charles “Earl” and Eva (Fenderson) Drew.

Ruth graduated from Bangor High School, and then attended the Augusta School of Nursing where she obtained her RN certification. With this certification, Ruth pursued a 30+ year long career in nursing which she continued to share her passion for throughout the rest of her life. Ruth also enjoyed traveling worldwide with her husband John “Mike” Cluff and nationwide on their RV adventures with friends and grandchildren. Ruth cherished her time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent her later years gardening, taking walks with her dog Elmo, watching UConn Women’s basketball, listening to talk radio, and Sunday brunches and holidays in Eddington with her son and family.

Ruth is survived by her sisters, Charlene Carter and husband Austin and Nellie Blethen; son John M. Cluff Jr. and wife Judy; her grandchildren Michael Cluff and wife Holly, Andrew Cluff and wife Donna, Jennifer (Cluff) Medrano and husband Miguel, Lindsey Cluff and fiancé Norman Lowery, Ashley (Cluff) Mulkern and husband Bryan, Lori (Troiano) Spillane and husband Jim, Mark Troiano; great grandchildren, Shane, Kameron, Hope, Anthony, Isiah, Miguel, Marissa, Connor, Sage, Bailey, Russell, Jonathan, Taylor, and Skylar; and former daughter in-law Mary (Simpson) Cluff. Ruth is predeceased by her husband John “Mike” Cluff, daughter Jeanne Marie (Cluff) Troiano, granddaughter Mollie (Gray) Troiano; her two brothers Harold and Bobby; and her loving dog Elmo.

Friends may call from 5-7 PM, Thursday, July 2, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main Street, Brewer, where funeral services will be held 1 PM, Friday. July 3, with Rev. Harbour Mitchell III, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, following the service.
