Barbara Lee  McGowen (Mason)
Barbara L. McGowen, 91, passed away, June 18, 2015 at a Bangor hospital following a brief illness. She was born, May 25, 1924, to Jacob and Alta Mason of Kezar Falls, and was a graduate of Kents Hill Academy. She married Neil McGowen of Cornish on December 9, 1944. During her life, she was the office manager of Churchill Motors of Parsonfield and two nursing homes in Ogdensburg and Canton, NY.
She was an active member of the Maine Forest and Logging Museum, serving as Board Member and Secretary, as well as the University of Maine Alumni Association, Class of 1954.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 70 years, Neil, of Glenburn; her son, Stanton (Kim) McGowen of Old Town; grandson, Arick (Amy) McGowen of Cumberland; granddaughter, Dr. Afton (Marshall) Thompson of North Carolina; and great granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Don McFadden of Westbrook.
A memorial service will be held, 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor, with Rev. Dan Wilson of Old Town United Methodist Church, officiating.
