Robert Emile  Shifflett
Robert “Bob” Emile Shifflett, 67, died peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family on March 15, 2015 after a bravely fought battle with cancer. He was born June 7, 1947 in Charlottesville, VA.

Bob spent his early years in Virginia and is an alumnus of Miller School of Albemarle. He traveled as a young man to Oklahoma to serve in the Air Force, and was proud to have served his country. In 1987 after several vacations to Maine, he relocated to Clifton. He retired from Emera Maine after a 26 year career. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, and gardening. He was also a talented craftsman, creating beautiful improvements to his home and gifts for his family. He was an active member of Clifton United Baptist Church.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Tammy, of 28 years, who was by his side every step of the way, daughter Janet Shifflett and Adam Tennant of Denver, CO; mother-in- law Mary Jane Thomas; best friend and cousin C. W. “Jr” Shifflett, his wife Kris, and their daughter Danielle; aunt Lucille; cousin Becky Sapp and her granddaughter Rene Sapp of Fairfield, ME; uncle Sam Shifflett and his wife Laurel of Charleston, SC; cousin Esther Lumpkin and her husband Al of Tappahannock, VA; sister-in-law Robin Duncan, her husband Jeff, and their son and cherished nephew Zach of Radford, VA; and brother-in-law David Thomas, his wife Patty, and their daughter Shelby Hynes of Williamsburg, VA. Special thanks to the Ferrill family of Clifton, the Spencer family of Newport, the Pelkey family of Clifton, Bruce Bender of Amherst, David Blakeman of Bangor, Luther Crutchfield of Columbia, VA and many others who made Bob’s life fulfilling and supported him throughout his journey.

Bob was predeceased by his father Floyd R. Shifflett, and mother Jeanne A. (Derwa) Shifflett of Charlottesville, VA; and his uncle Clarence Shifflett of Pine Bush, NY.

A memorial service will be held Sunday March 22, 2015 at 3pm at Clifton United Baptist Church, 742 Airline Road, Clifton, and will be officiated by his friend and Pastor John Walsh. Celebration of life will follow after the service. Burial will follow at a later date as he returns home to Virginia for eternal rest in Staunton.
