Obituary for Dorothy Elizabeth Clukey

Dorothy “Dot” Clukey, 87, passed away peacefully February 16, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 26, 1927 in Dexter, the daughter of Errol A. and Myra (Bell) Nutting.

Dot attended Maine School of Commerce, now Husson University. She worked at Hampden Academy for many years as a secretary. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary #4633 in Hampden for 30 years and participated in community projects of the organization. Dot was active on every level, from local to district and state, and was State President from 1992-1993. She was the Auxiliary State Secretary for seven years. Dot was a long standing member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Hampden.

She is survived by sons, Bruce Clukey of Paris, ME, Scott Clukey and wife Cheryl of Renfrew, PA; a daughter, Susan Milligan and husband Jeffrey of Oxford; a brother, Richard Nutting and wife Mary of Dover-Foxcroft; two sisters, Rosalie Leighton of Dover-Foxcroft, Ruth Oblack and husband Joseph of Merritt Island, FL; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Kilton, Anthony Clukey, Rachel Clukey, Patrick Milligan, and Katherine Milligan; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Philip and her brother, James Nutting and his wife, Alberta.

A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave, Hampden, at 12 PM, Noon, Saturday, February 28. Friends are invited to gather with the family from 11 AM until the start of the service Saturday. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at the VFW Hall in Hampden, 41 Canoe Club Road, immediately following the service.
