Bryce J. Pelkey, 17, passed away January 28, 2015 at his home. He was born in Bangor, May 14, 1997, the son of Richard W. and Anne Marie (Bradford) Pelkey.
Bryce was a senior attending Bangor High School. For all four years, he was a football star, recently playing defensive back, one of his favorite positions. Bryce was employed at Sea Dog Brewing Co. in Bangor. He loved most sports, and had played lacrosse and soccer and in the winter he liked to snowboard on the different mountains of Maine. Bryce also enjoyed playing sports video games, like C.O.D., Madden, hockey and basketball. He was beginning to expand his interests into music, uploading songs to YouTube and SoundCloud. Bryce had close friends that he spent most of his free time with, his closest being Jake, Jordan, Evan, Johnny, and a special person in his life who meant so much to him, Sarah Leadbetter.
Bryce was known for his handsome and infectious smile that was hard to ignore. He was a good friend to everyone and was a great athlete and teammate. Bryce was funny and outgoing with his friends, he was a daredevil and adventurous when he was with them. He was kind to everyone, but enjoyed a good competition when faced with one. Bryce was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. Many summer vacations were spent with his family on Upper Lead Mountain Pond and Pine Point Beach in Scarborough. He loved the outdoors, especially four-wheeling, swimming, spending evenings by the campfire, kayaking, tubing, waterskiing and fishing. Bryce had a sweet tooth that showed when he was enjoying his mother’s No Bake cookies, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups or anything with Nutella. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends who loved him unconditionally.
Bryce is survived by his parents, Rick and Anne Pelkey; his brother, Chase; sisters, Alyssa and Makenna; his grandmothers, Gloria Bradford and Betty Pelkey; his great grandmothers, Helen Bradford and Shirley Tobey; his aunts, uncles and cousins, Lisa, Eric, Renee, Gabrielle, Rod, Reid and his wife, Sam, Reanna, Reeghan, Connor, Aidan, Robin, Mark, Jenny, Randy, Lori, Jared and his wife, Lindsay, Kariana, Erik, Rhonda, Chris, Madison, Harrison, Ryan, Chrisy, Nick and Taylor; his great aunts and uncles, Mona Tobey, Max and Jeff Tobey, and Ross and Cheryl Bradford and their children, Kyle, Brock and Brett. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Rodney Joseph Pelkey and Orville Tuttle Bradford III; and his cousin, Logan.
