Obituary for Helen Elizabeth Worcester

Helen E. Worcester, 95, died January 27, 2015, at a local hospital following a brief illness. She was born February 19, 1919, in Bar Mills, the daughter of Hugh and Martha (Sargent) Kelly.

Helen grew up in Carmel, graduated from Carmel High School, and lived in Carmel most of her life. She enjoyed reading, the daily crosswords, sewing, playing cribbage, and was a faithful fan of the Red Sox. Helen was a member of the Carmel Union Congregational Church, the Golden Harvest Grange, and other civic groups. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially visits from the grandchildren, and watching them in their stages of life. She will be dearly missed with her wit and infectious smile.

She is survived by her daughters Lois Senter and husband Bill, Sally Porter and husband Dale; her son, Bruce Worcester and wife Sarah; her brother, Ralph Kelly and wife Arlene; a sister-in-law Polly Worcester; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Worcester; a daughter, Bette Schofield; a son, Nathan Worcester; a sister, Dorothy Hansen; a brother, Harry Kelly; and a granddaughter, Paula Schofield.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 6-8 PM, Saturday, Jan. 31, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, Feb 1, at the Carmel Union Congregational Church, Carmel, with a reception downstairs in the church following the service. Interment will be in the spring at Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
