Obituary for Brenda Elaine Stitham (Blomburg)

Glenburn – Brenda Elaine Stitham, 70, died at a Bangor hospital after a bout with pneumonia, Thursday, January 29, 2015. She was born February 27, 1944 in Bangor, the daughter of Harry and Dorothy (Blomburg) Earley.

Brenda graduated from Bangor High School, and then spent several years traveling. She went to work at Striar’s Textile Mill in Orono, where she met her future husband, Elden Stitham, getting married June 21, 1968. After several years she and her husband joined Glenburn Fire and G&H Ambulance in 1976, where Brenda became an EMT, and worked her way up to Paramedic. She was a member for 34 years. Later, she realized her dream of becoming a nurse, getting an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Eastern Maine Community College, although she was more proud of her paramedicine. Brenda and Elden spent their summers camping at Matagamon Wilderness Campground where they spent many happy times together. In her spare time she enjoyed reading romance books. Brenda battled various illnesses throughout her life. She had kidney disease, renal failure, kidney transplant, breast cancer, and pneumonia. She was a strong woman throughout all of this, leaving an example to her family that they will never forget.

In addition to her husband, Elden of Glenburn, Brenda is survived her son Chuck and wife Kaila of Glenburn, and son Thomas of Glenburn, and his two children, Zayne Gilley and Rigby Hersom; mother Dorothy Follett of Mauldin, SC; a sister Maryellen Floyd of Oakview, CA; and several nieces and nephews. IN addition to her father, Brenda was predeceased by her grandfather Charles Blomburg, who acted like a father to her; and a sister Sandra Drake.
