BREWER – Frances “Fran” Wilcox, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, at Woodlands Assisted Living on January 22, 2015. Fran was born on March 29, 1926 in Petersburg, VA the daughter of Irving Pitts and Mary Drury (Sadler). Fran dropped out of school at an early age to help raise her siblings. She later went on to obtain her GED in which she was very proud of. Fran married the love of her life, Gordon Wilcox, Sr., in 1953. They shared five boys together, three of which were only a year apart, yet she never said a bad word about any of them. Fran and Gordon shared 34 years of marriage together until his unexpected passing in 1987. Fran was a very hard working woman who enjoyed her job at Sampson’s Supermarket in Bangor. She also enjoyed playing a good game of dice, watching Jeopardy and looked forward to gathering with the ladies from the Coldbrook Christmas Club. Even in her final days she still had “spunk”. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, David Eaton, Jr., a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Eaton, as well as her siblings. Surviving are her five children, Richard Eaton and his wife, Guyla, of Levant, David Eaton Sr., and his girlfriend, Gail Allard, of Bangor, Phillip Wilcox Sr., and his wife, Kathy, of Ocala, Florida, Gordon “Wes” Wilcox, Jr. and his girlfriend, Vincetta Gale, of Belfast and Chris Wilcox, Sr. and his wife, Heather, of Glenburn. Fran was very proud of her 16 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 6-8pm Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St., Bangor, where a private family service will be held Thursday with Stanley Griffin, Pastor, Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiating. A public graveside service will be held this spring at the South Levant Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
