Obituary for Richard Allen Bennett

Veazie (Flag) – Richard Allen Bennett, 78, died at his home Thursday, November 13, 2014. He was born April 26, 1936, at Lambert Lake, the son of Roger and Almeda (Mason) Bennett.

Richard served in the USMC, and later retired from the Bangor Police Department after 20 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeling, and riding with his dogs Skipper and Lucky on the back roads of Maine.

Richard is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 55 years; 3 daughters Cathy Smith, Marcia Bean and husband Hal, and Kimberly Huntley and fiancée Robert Yost; 6 grandchildren Richard Smith, Chad Bean, Stacy Bailey, Jewels Watson, Glory Watson, and Loreli Crawford; 5 great grandchildren, Tyler, Gabrielle, Cody, Rylee, and Lyra; and 2 special cousins Billy Nason and Gene Lane. In addition to his parents Richard was predeceased by a brother, Roger, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 19 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor following the service.
