Obituary for Thomas John Gonzalez

Newport and Bangor - Thomas J. Gonzalez, 30, died peacefully at his home after a 3-year battle with brain cancer. He was born January 2, 1984, in Waterville, the son of Alina M. (Gonzalez) Bohm. As a young man, Thomas attended Bangor High School. On July 4, 2013, he married the love of his life, Tamara Corey. Thomas had a great love for the outdoors and anything that went fast and had a motor; it was a love that he passed along to his young son. Up until his diagnosis, Thomas enjoyed his career as an over the road truck driver, traveling with his wife after the two of them obtained their CDL's together. Thomas had a love for music, was a self-taught guitar player, and participated in the annual Relay for Life. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones. Surviving in addition to his wife, Tamara (Corey) Gonzalez and their son, Thomas J. Gonzalez Jr.; his mother, Alina M. Bohm; father, William French; sister, Jennifer French; brother, Christopher French; grandparents: Lorraine and John Belanger, Hector Gonzalez, Robert French and Judith Nichols, as well as many other extended family members and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you, to Cancer Care of Maine, Dana Farber and Hospice of Eastern Maine for all their care and support. A celebration of Thomas’s Life will be held 3:00pm Sunday November 16, 2014 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor immediately following the service.
