Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Ida Plesset can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Ida Plesset

Ida (Sclair) Plesset, 88, died peacefully October 22, 2014, at Ruth’s House, an assisted living facility in Longmeadow, MA. She was born November 4, 1925 in Bangor, the daughter of Getchel and Kate (Golub) Sclair, and was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Lewis Plesset in 1988. Ida was educated in Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School in 1943. She worked for Attorney Edward Stern as a legal secretary to help support her mother after her father’s sudden death. Ida was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Israel and head of the telephone committee for the Friendship Club. Her day was not complete until she solved the crossword puzzle and jumble in the Bangor Daily News. Nothing made her happier than being with her family and especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by her children Gail (Plesset) Baquis and George Baquis, Longmeadow, MA, and her son Robert Plesset and Rochelle (Kauffman) Plesset , Potomac, MD, and four grandchildren, Salomone Baquis and Kate Baquis, Washington, DC, Emilie Plesset, Ann Arbor, MI, and Jacqueline Plesset, Potomac, MD, and many nieces nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Sunday October 26 at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center Street, Bangor. Interment will be at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street Bangor following the interment. Gail will sit shiva at her Longmeadow home. Robert will sit shiva at his home in Potomac. The family wishes to thank the dedicated and special caregivers at Ruth’s House, the team from Spectrum Hospice and Homewatch Caregivers.
