Obituary for Bette Louise Grant

Bangor
Bette L. Grant, 83, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on September 11, 2014.
She was born in Bangor July 17, 1931, daughter of Fenton A. and Louise P. (Doughty) Philbrick.
Bette married her high school sweetheart, Judson “Bud” Grant on July 16, 1949. She worked with her husband developing several businesses beginning with Fairmount Terrace Motel .Bette worked in all facets of the business, from maid service to front desk clerk. With the opening of Broadway Furniture, she decorated the store and helped with the buying. Bette decorated The Cottage Restaurant, and she her sister became the bakers, making the breads and baked goods. Once again when Kev-Lan opened, she decorated the restaurant there.
She was a life time member of Patawa Club and a member of the Women’s Philanthropic Council of Husson University. Bette received the Abe and Freda Miller Award for her generosity to Camp CaPella
In her later years, Bette enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandson.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Noyes and her husband, Freddy, Gale Longo and her husband, Michael, all of Bangor; two grandsons, Kevin Longo and his companion, Tori Commeau of Levant, Landon Longo of Bangor; great grandson, Easton and grand dog, Harley; three sisters, Florence Hopkins of Bangor, Joyce Charloux of FL., Norma Spencer of Bangor; one brother, Wayne Philbrick of Hampden; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Judson “Bud” Grant and two brothers, Fenton Philbrick, Jr., and Wendall Philbrick.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Sunday September 14, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service. Private interment for the immediate family will be at the Garden Mausoleum of Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
