ORONO – Theresa M. Thomas, 85, died September 6, 2014, at a local nursing home. She was born December 10, 1928, the daughter of Dennis J. and Bertha M. (Ouellette) Albert. Theresa graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Orono, Class of 1947. Theresa enjoyed cooking especially for big family gatherings, and she liked to crochet. Theresa was a member of the Orono Seniors and the Daughters of Isabella, and she liked to do volunteer work. Theresa was a very outgoing person, and always had a smile. She was a very loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and she had a great fondness for children.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 63 years, Walter I. Thomas; three sons, Raymond, Paul and his wife Michelle, and Glenn and his wife Suzanne; one sister, Dorothy Soucie; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Mark; a granddaughter, Shannon; and several aunts and uncles. The family wants to thank the staff and administrators of Orono Commons, Homestead Unit, and Beacon Hospice for the loving and kind care given to Theresa. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2014 at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Our Lady of Wisdom Church, Newman Center, 83 College Ave., Orono, followed by the Rite of Committal at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at 100 Mill St., Orono, following the interment.
