Obituary for John Roland Spox

LEVANT – John R. Spox, 77, died unexpectedly April 1, 2014, at his home. He was born January 10, 1937, in Bangor, the son of John and Emma (Street) Spox.
John graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a pipe fitter for Diamond International for many years. John was a member of the Eagles Club and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching birds, gardening and building anything and everything. John was a loving and caring husband, father, step father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.
John is survived by his loving wife, Ellen (Batson) Spox; brother, James Spox, of Brewer; daughters, Lee Faulkner, of Cutler, Patti McElvain and her husband Bill, of Levant, and Sherri Price and her husband Tim, of TX; sons, Andy Faulkner and his wife Robin, of Newburgh, and John “Jay” Spox Jr. and his wife Carmen, of Orrington; step children, Mark Burke and his wife Linda, of Milbridge, Brett Burke, of Addison, Chris Burke and his wife Julie, of Addison, Casey Burke, of Milbridge, and Charles Burke, of Prospect Harbor; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Raymond Street of Millinocket. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters, Jeanine, Geneva, Janet and Lanie, and a stepdaughter, Cathy Doughty.
A service of remembrance will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main St., Brewer. A time to share conversation and refreshments will follow the service. Interment will be held at a later date.
